Description:
Disk drive fingers are stamped or laser machined and have other small parts assembled to them. Edge effects of the manufacturing process and overall shape are as important as the physical dimensions. A Taylor Hobson confocal laser scanning profilomer determines the overall flatness and the size of raised edges and machining burrs. The ability to quickly generate a 3D image of the full 30 mm long finger makes this technique ideal for QA/QC applications (copyright Taylor Hobson).
