Spectrophotometry

CEMMNT offer world leading Spectrophotometry services and expertise, offering clients a cost-effective, fast-turn around service whilst utilising state-of-the-art equipment, techniques and facilities.

Spectrophotometry enables characterisation of the optical properties of a wide range of materials from optics through to thin films, pharmaceuticals, textiles and inks.

A spectrophotometer uses an arrangement of light sources, prisms, mirrors, and slits to select light of a desired wavelength. The light is split into two identical beams, one as a reference beam, and one to pass through a sample in the sample compartment. A common detector electronically compares the intensity of the light striking it from the two beams in an alternating sequence. Outputs of Transmittance, Reflectance, Absorption and Absorbance of samples in the UV and Visible Light Bands are recorded.
