Testing the Limits of Organic Electronics

The testing and characterisation of organic electronic devices is becoming an increasingly important aspect of this growing sector and CEMMNT partner, NPL, is gearing up to play a key role in developing equipment and techniques to meet the demand.

NPL is focused on metrology for almost all aspects of industry and started a project three years ago focusing on organic electronics as part of the National Measurement System project.

The remit of the project has now been extended and with a £1.5 million grant, NPL has gathered a multi-disciplinary team of 15 researchers covering materials science, electronics and chemistry at its Teddington base. Team leader, Craig Murphy, commented that the team can also call on other expertise within NPL "to develop metrology techniques and support the development of organic electronic efforts of UK industry in collaboration with academia where relevant."
