From small beginnings...

CEMMNT (Centre of excellence in Metrology for Micro and Nano Technologies) has successfully developed a reputation as a key provider of high quality measurement and characterisation technologies for organisations, both large and small, in the UK. With the latest high technology equipment and laboratory clean rooms now installed, the interest in the benefits these facilities can offer clients, utilising micro and nano technologies in their manufacturing or product and process development, has increased significantly since the start of the year.

The addition of new £1.3 million clean rooms provides the latest metrology instrumentation for clients' outsourced measurement and calibration requirements in Class 7 and Class 4 UKAS-certified environments for applications requiring contaminant-free metrology.

In line with CEMMNT's mandate to continually improve their metrology offering for UK industries, the partner network is installing the latest SEM equipment. With its high resolution to 1nm, this new facility demonstrates CEMMNT's commitment to providing a comprehensive measurement and characterisation service to its clients.

Also with high resolution (7.5nm) and novel touch-sensor technology, our new Zeiss F25 micro-CMM is one of only two systems installed in the UK and is designed to meet industry's exacting requirement of high precision and accuracy coupled with low probing forces to minimise sample effects. Developed for 3D measurements of complex miniature components, the F25 provides the highest quality data for applications including high aspect ratio microstructures, optics, intricate moulding tools or plastic parts and precision automotive components.

Developing links between industry, academia, the KTNs, iNets and other MNT organisations has also been high on CEMMNT's agenda over the last few months; hosting road-mapping events, workshops and seminars, as well as organising a series of advanced systems engineering lecture courses at Loughborough University.

To maximise their relevance, future events will be held for specific technology sectors, enabling attendees to both hear industry leaders describe the very latest in application developments and have the opportunity to network with organisations from their own industry.

Our website (www.cemmnt.co.uk) has been recognised as informative and easy to navigate and we are keen to maintain the site with up-to-date news, event details and, importantly, high quality technical content.  If you would like to feature  relevant industry events, news and articles our website please forward details to paul.newbatt@cemmnt.co.uk
